What they were facing, what they chose, and what changed, in their own words

What did you want from coaching?

I began my leadership journey in 2018 but eventually felt stuck in my current role as a Director. I had limited insight into what it would take to grow into a senior leadership position. I sought coaching to gain a clearer understanding of what true leadership entails and to identify the skills and mindset I needed to develop in order to move forward in my career.

What is it like to get started?

Internally, I had a sense of what I wanted, but I struggled to articulate it clearly at first. In the initial coaching sessions, the engaging conversations with Chuck challenged me to think more deeply about my core values, purpose, and inner motivations. Over time, this reflection gave me the clarity and confidence to understand what I truly wanted from the coaching experience.

What is involved for you?

Tactically, this journey is about my professional growth and achieving a tangible goal: to become a CTO within the next five years. Philosophically, it’s about evolving into a strong, fearless, empathetic, and compassionate leader – someone deeply rooted in core values and committed to bringing happiness and peace to the lives of those around me.

What is it like to work with Chuck?

Working with Chuck feels like uncovering the truth about yourself. The conversations are deeply engaging and consistently challenge me to step out of my comfort zone and push my boundaries. After each session, I walk away with new perspectives on leadership that strengthen my confidence and fuel my pursuit of personal and professional growth.

What challenges are you overcoming?

I’m working to overcome personal challenges such as managing anger and irritation, reducing impulsiveness and impatience, and becoming more aware of my biases. I’m also focused on building emotional resilience – moving beyond fear and shyness, and avoiding the tendency to jump to conclusions. These efforts are helping me grow into a more composed, thoughtful, and effective leader.

What helps you along the way?

Coaching that is grounded in real situations has been especially helpful. Being guided through these experiences in the context of leadership allows me to connect more deeply with my emotions, intuition, and thoughts. This process helps me get to the root of each situation, understand it at a deeper level, and grow from the inside out.

What are you accomplishing now? What are you achieving? What outcomes are you realizing?

I’m becoming increasingly confident and gaining clarity on how to lead through the lens of a true servant leader. I focus on supporting my team with compassion and perspective, fostering a positive, safe, and trusted work environment. I’m learning to guide the team through healthy conflict with respect and without bias, while encouraging commitment, accountability, and a strong focus on delivering results.

How is your life different now?

I’m a much happier and more peaceful person. I’ve learned to approach situations with emotional intelligence – staying calm, patient, and non-impulsive. This shift has helped me assess challenges more thoughtfully and take deliberate, constructive actions.

How are you different now?

I’ve grown into a more calm, empathetic, fearless, and open-minded leader. I approach challenges with greater composure and lead with a deeper sense of understanding and confidence.

What would you say to someone considering hiring a coach?

Coaching is one of the most valuable investments you can make in yourself. It helps you gain clarity on your goals, uncover your purpose, and grow both personally and professionally. A great coach will help you understand your strengths and weaknesses – not just in a tactical sense, but also in terms of emotional intelligence and self-awareness. Without coaching, it’s easy to hit a plateau. With it, you gain perspective, wisdom, and guidance from someone who challenges and supports you to become your best self.

What else would you like to add?

Chuck is a truly transformative coach. He doesn’t just help you reach a goal – he guides you through a deep, reflective process that connects your purpose to your core values. He helps you identify and co-exist with emotional saboteurs, while grounding you in what truly matters. Through his coaching, I’ve come to appreciate the power of understanding both the process and myself at a much deeper level.

What did you want from coaching?

When I first connected with Chuck, I was in a chaotic and transitional period of my life. I didn’t really know what to expect, no one had ever introduced me to the idea of coaching before, but I knew I needed guidance and accountability to get back on track. I hoped that working with Chuck would help me gain clarity, direction, and a renewed sense of purpose.

What is it like to get started?

Getting started can feel like stepping into the unknown, but in the best way. It’s a leap into self-discovery and growth. If you come with an open mind and a willingness to put in the effort, Chuck makes the process smooth and encouraging. He meets you exactly where you are, which makes starting something new feel exciting rather than intimidating.

What is involved for you?

For me, coaching with Chuck means dedicated monthly calls and thoughtful “challenges”. The assignments push me to apply what we discuss and reflect on my own patterns and progress. It’s not just busy work; it’s meaningful exploration that helps me notice what’s working in my life, what isn’t, and why. It’s a practical yet insightful way to better understand myself and continue evolving.

What is it like to work with Chuck?

Working with Chuck is both easy and energizing. He’s down-to-earth, deeply empathetic, and has an incredible ability to understand life’s complexities from multiple perspectives. I have always felt completely safe opening up to him. He never judges, only listens and helps me navigate forward with wisdom and compassion. Every session feels like a conversation with someone who genuinely cares about my well-being and growth.

What challenges are you overcoming?

I’m at a very formative stage of life, figuring out what adulthood means for me and how to stay true to myself while striving to be my best. With Chuck’s guidance, I’m learning to face these challenges head-on, continually uncovering new insights about myself and how I want to show up in the world.

What helps you along the way?

My close friends and family have been amazing sources of accountability and support. Talking with them about what I’m working on reinforces the lessons from my coaching sessions and keeps me motivated. But ultimately, Chuck’s thoughtful guidance is the foundation that makes this journey possible and sustainable.

What are you accomplishing now? What are you achieving? What outcomes are you realizing?

I feel healthier, more proactive, and genuinely in control of my life. I’ve surprised myself by pushing beyond my old limitations. For instance, I once swore off further education, yet now I’ve been accepted into a master’s program in statistics, something I never thought I’d pursue. I’m living with more intention and courage than ever before.

How is your life different now?

Over the past year, I’ve learned more about myself than I could have imagined. I approach life with curiosity and see it as a series of experiments rather than rigid expectations. This perspective has made my days feel lighter, more purposeful, and more fun. One of the most tangible changes is that I have completely stopped using substances like nicotine and marijuana, a milestone I credit in large part to the clarity, discipline, and self-respect that Chuck’s coaching has fostered in me. Chuck has helped me break through the old stigmas of what life “should” look like and empowered me to define it for myself.

How are you different now?

I feel more mature, more open-minded, and significantly healthier in both mind and body. Even my partner is always eager to hear about my coaching sessions and finds ways to support my growth, which says so much about how impactful this journey has been. Coaching with Chuck has lifted a weight off my shoulders and made everyday life feel more manageable and fulfilling.

What would you say to someone considering hiring a coach?

If you’re even remotely considering it, take the leap. Working with Chuck isn’t just about fixing problems. It’s about discovering a better version of yourself, one step at a time. He provides a safe, supportive space where you can unpack your thoughts, set realistic goals, and build the habits that make meaningful change possible. It’s one of the best investments you can make in yourself.

What else would you like to add?

I’m deeply grateful for Chuck’s unwavering support, patience, and wisdom. He has a genuine gift for meeting people where they are and walking alongside them as they grow. I can’t recommend him highly enough to anyone ready to embrace positive change in their life.

What did you want from coaching?

My goal was to achieve clarity in my career vision, define what success means personally and professionally. How I can align my daily actions with that vision.

What is it like to get started?

With Chuck’s guidance, I was able to translate those insights into near-term and long-term goals, which made the start of the journey both grounding and energizing

What is involved for you?

Coaching has helped me gain clarity on what I truly want and what success means for me, while also guiding me to grow as a better person. What challenges are you overcoming?

Coaching has helped me move past the uncertainty of not knowing whether I was on the right path, and instead focus on what matters most. I’ve also been learning to manage self-doubt, stay centered during difficult situations, and maintain focus on meaningful goals rather than getting distracted by external pressures. These shifts are helping me grow in confidence, resilience, and purpose.

What helps you along the way?

Having the tools and practicing those instead of just wait for the coaching sessions.

What are you accomplishing now? What are you achieving? What outcomes are you realizing?

I have clarity and goals which I have set and I’m working towards it. I’ve become more proactive and take deliberate actions.

How is your life different now?

How are you different now?

I take actions more deliberately than waiting for things to happen. I have better clarity on what I want to do and feel more sense of ownership in where I’m heading professionally and personally.

What would you say to someone considering hiring a coach?

Understand what that person is really looking for, a coach, a mentor, a therapist. Assuming that person is looking for Coach, I would highly recommend them someone (perhaps like you), who is really empathetic, patient and someone who is not jumping to provide answers, but who can help get to the answers, provides tools to self-reflect and help become more independent and confident.

What did you want from coaching?

Going into the coaching exercise, I was in a particularly stressful place in life. I had unexpected health issues, high stress/uncertainty at work, and challenges with some of my personal relationships. I’d always performed well under pressure, and was able to juggle it all…but for the first time in my life it all just felt like “too much”. My life felt out of whack, and I was starting to feel demotivated to continue pushing forward dealing with life’s day to day challenges. This was the first time in my life I had felt this way, and it was rather unsettling. I wanted someone to help me reorient and find my north star again.

What is it like to get started?

Chuck is great to work with; it all starts with a simple conversation.  He takes time to understand who you are, and why you’re interested in coaching in the first place.  The goal is to make sure that he’s the right coach for you.  He patiently explains what coaching is, how he approaches it, and some of the tools that you’ll use together.

What is involved for you?

Chuck and I worked out a manageable schedule which strikes the right balance for where I’m at in life at the moment.  I end up spending roughly 2-4 hours weekly on my coaching sessions and exercises.  It’s a mixture of reflection and action.  Both are necessary, and I think Chuck does a great job of helping me figure out how to strike the appropriate balance there.

What is it like to work with Chuck?

Chuck really wants to see you succeed, and is willing to try different things to determine which methods or approaches really resonate with you.  Early on, he’ll help you figure out what your core values and motivators are in life.  Answering these foundational questions lays the groundwork for meaningful progress against more concrete life goals.  Even if you don’t know what you want, Chuck can help you figure that out as well.  The great thing is, he never is telling you what to do or pushing you in a certain direction.  He just wants to make sure you’re considering the full picture and really engaging with all your options.  The answers are always yours.  He’s just helping you tap into/build capacities you didn’t know you had.

What challenges are you overcoming?

My main goal for coaching was understanding how to deal with stress, perform well at work, but also not lose sight of my relationship with my family, as well as giving myself permission to relax and recharge.  I feel like I’ve been able to regain that balance.

What helps you along the way?

Our regular meetings create a space that forces me to make time for my own personal growth.  The different tools that Chuck uses/teaches allow me to explore challenges from many different angles, and move past them.  The diversity of these tools, coupled with exercises between sessions that hold me accountable for practical progress and action help me continue to move forward. I’ve also learned the value of small, incremental steps.  It’s amazing how much progress can be made this way.

What are you accomplishing now? What are you achieving? What outcomes are you realizing?

My career has excelled considerably.  I’ve seen promotions and raises during my coaching.  By shedding some of my anxiety, I’ve taken on larger, more ambitious projects at work, and become more confident in presenting to senior leaders.  This all has built my confidence and skills, leading to better opportunities.  Surprisingly, going outside my comfort zone has actually been really fun.  Problems are now more like puzzles to be solved, instead of feeling like wolves chasing me down.

An unintended consequence is I find myself using similar tools with my co-workers to help them through similar rough patches.  This has translated to greater career options, as people trust me to help on critical items, as well as being willing to take my calls, as they find our conversations helpful and productive.  I’ve found greater satisfaction in my day to day work being able to help others grow as well.

How is your life different now?

Life is richer and more interesting. The skills I’ve picked up have helped me in both my personal and work life. I have a closer, more joyful relationship with my family.  I also feel much less anxious about the world, instead I wake up looking forward to whatever new adventure or experience I may have today.  I’ve also learned how to align the day to day experience of living to my core values.  By doing that, even the most banal tasks derive meaning and can become interesting.

How are you different now?

I realized a lot about my core values and identity. By tapping into those, I was able to approach problems in a more authentic way, and reawaken my deeper motivation. Coaching has also helped me understand that sustained incremental change is much more powerful than a large amount of unsustainable change.  When things don’t “go according to plan” I’ve been much more resilient and able to rebound to figure out a plan B.

What would you say to someone considering hiring a coach?

For a relatively modest commitment of time and effort, you can see massive benefits.  My personal and professional life have transformed more positively in the past two years than they had in the decade prior. I can not recommend it enough.
